The Bakersfield FD and California Highway Patrol officers responded to an incident involving a white Honda sedan that went down an embankment off the westbound Golden State Highway, just west of F Street in Bakersfield around 5:16 a.m.

Firefighters from Truck 1 set up stabilizers to secure the vehicle on its passenger side and assist the female driver in getting out.

The driver declined to be identified and reported that she was initially driving westbound on the Golden State Highway when she swerved to avoid an object. She subsequently lost control of the vehicle, resulting in the crash down the embankment.

The driver refused medical attention and remained at the scene with the California Highway Patrol for further investigation.
