Firefighters Save Dog From Burning Home in Pacoima

PACOIMA, LOS ANGELES, Aug. 1 (KNN) — Firefighters rescued a dog from a burning single-family home late Tuesday night in Pacoima.

Los Angeles Fire Department personnel were dispatched around 10:47 p.m. to a reported structure fire on the 13000 block of West Goleta Street.

Arriving crews found a one-story, single-family home on fire with heavy smoke present.

Firefighters engaged in a coordinated effort between interior fire attack, vertical ventilation and a search for potential victims.

The occupants who were initially reported as unaccounted for, were not home at the time of the fire and no human patients were found, however, one canine was rescued from the home by firefighters.

Firefighters were observed attempting to treat the canine for possible smoke inhalation. The dog appeared dazed and scared, but remained calm.

The LAFD reported that It took 36 firefighters 20 minutes to access, confine and extinguish the flames.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
