Long Beach Fire Department lifeguards and Long Beach police officers responded to the area of the 400 block of Shoreline Village Drive around 10:30 a.m. regarding an unresponsive male floating in the water.

When authorities arrived, they located the male clearly deceased. A fire rescue boat recovered the body and brought it to a nearby dock.

The manner of death is under investigation, as well as how the body ended up at the location and whether or not it came from a reported attempted rescue in the Los Angeles River earlier this week that authorities were unable to locate.

Los Angeles County Coroner officials were also on scene preparing the body for transport to the coroner’s facility.
