DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES, Feb. 12 (KNN) — A forklift loaded with the tropical fruit papaya and a van collided head-on in downtown Los Angeles early Wednesday morning.

The Los Angeles Fire Department and Los Angeles Police Department’s Newton Division officers responded to reports of a two-vehicle crash in the 2000 block of East Olympic Boulevard shortly before 3 a.m.
When first responders arrived, they found a forklift hauling boxes of papayas that had crashed head-on into a white van.
LAFD paramedics evaluated the forklift operator and driver of the van at the scene.
One of the parties was transported to the hospital by LAFD, though it remains unclear with the LAFD and LAPD whether it was the forklift operator or the van’s driver.
However, a spokesperson for the LAFD confirmed the patient was transported to a hospital with a trauma center, but that does not necessarily mean the patient needed that level of care.
Key News Network video from the scene shows significant damage to the van.
There were no additional details regarding the incident.
