UPLAND, CA, June 25 (KNN) – One person was killed, multiple people were injured in a massive traffic collision on the I-10 Freeway late Sunday evening.
California Highway Patrol and the San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to a traffic collision just after 8 p.m. involving 10 vehicles westbound on the I-10 Freeway at Euclid Avenue in the city of Upland.
CHP received additional 911 calls of one of the vehicles landing on the eastbound side of the I-10 causing another head-on crash. One person was pronounced deceased inside the vehicle on the eastbound side of the freeway in the number three lane.
Some patients trapped inside some of the vehicles were in need of extrication, according to the fire department.
A least six victims, including a six-year-old child, were all transported to a local hospital in unknown conditions.
Initial information from CHP indicates a vehicle was driving recklessly in and out of traffic prior to the crash.
The CHP Inland Office is handling the investigation.
