Good Samaritan Uses Water Truck to Prevent Flames From Spreading to Forest in Newhall Pass

NEWHALL PASS, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, July 23 (KNN) — A good Samaritan jumped into action and brought his water tender to help prevent flames consuming a vehicle from traveling into the bone-dry Santa Susana Mountains.

The incident was reported shortly before 6:20 p.m. on Coltrane Avenue, south of Interstate 5 in the Newhall Pass.

A man, who lives next door, saw heavy smoke and found an engulfed cargo van parked under trees leading to the forest along the mountain range’s foothills. The man used his water tender to hose off trees and the vehicle in an effort to keep flames from moving into the forest.

Fire crews arrived about eight minutes later and worked to douse and smother the fire.
