GRANADA HILLS, LOS ANGELES, Jan. 21 (KNN) — A vehicle slammed into the garage of a home in Granada Hills Sunday afternoon, leaving the structural integrity of the building compromised.
The incident occurred shortly after 3 p.m. in the 17300 block of West Westbury Drive. A single vehicle crashed into the garage area of a 2,526 square foot, one-story home causing significant structural damage, reported the Los Angeles Fire Department.
No one was trapped in the crash, however, two adult females from the vehicle sustained minor injury and were taken in good condition to an area hospital by an LAFD ambulance, said the LAFD. No other injuries were reported.
An LAFD Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) crew was requested at the scene to assess, and as necessary, stabilize the structure pending the arrival of an inspector from the Department of Building and Safety who was seen at the location toward the end of the Key News Network video from the scene.
A tow truck driver at the scene mentioned off camera that the driver lives three houses down where the incident occurred; the driver pulled away from her driveway and released the e-brake and the vehicle took off at high speed (about 50-60mph) down hill striking the home. The vehicle is electric.
