Gun Found After Pursuit Crash Involving Suspected DUI Driver in North Hollywood

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES, Mar. 4 (KNN) — A pursuit of a driver suspected of driving under the influence ended in a single-vehicle rollover crash and the discovery of a handgun early Monday morning.

The Los Angeles Police Department initiated a pursuit of a gray Hyundai at Laurel Canyon Boulevard at Sylvan Street which lasted for only about five minutes, before the pursuit terminated at 1:20 a.m. at Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Erwin Street when the suspect crashed, according to the LAPD.

As LAPD officers were investigating the scene, a handgun was discovered in the grass about 25 feet across from the flipped vehicle as seen in Key News Network video from the scene. The gun was observed being placed into an evidence bag, but it is unclear at this time if the weapon is linked to the suspected DUI driver.

The male juvenile driver was placed into custody for suspected DUI, according to the LAPD.

He was transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries. Information regrading his condition was not immediately available from the LAPD.
