Gunfire Erupts at Pomona Party; 6 Victims Wounded, 1 Dies at Hospital

POMONA, CA, Sept. 23 (KNN) — Shots rang out at a party in Pomona late Friday night that left a total of six victims wounded with one of the victims in critical condition who later died at a local hospital, reported the Pomona Police Department in a victim update Saturday.

The Pomona Police Department and the Los Angeles County Fire Department received 911 calls shortly before 11:00 p.m. regarding multiple gunshot victims on the 1500 block of East First Street at San Lorenzo Street.

Officers and paramedics arrived at the scene and found multiple victims wounded from a shooting at the location.

Pomona PD Watch Commander Sgt. Gutierrez initially told Key News Network that a total of five victims were wounded in a shooting at a party at the location. One of those victims was in critical condition and four suffered minor injuries.

In an update late afternoon Saturday from Pomona PD, an additional victim was added to the count. In a news release posted to Facebook, Pomona PD said three victims were treated and released, and two victims are in stable condition. One of the victims who was transported to a local hospital from the scene Friday night in critical condition, passed away Saturday morning.

Gutierrez said the crowd was of college age, with a few younger ones, but the ages of the victims were not yet confirmed.

At least 13 shell casings were seen marked by officers to the rear of the alley at the scene of the shooting Friday night.

“Investigators from the Pomona Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit are actively conducting an extensive investigation,” the PPD news release stated. The suspects are unknown at this time.
