Head-On Traffic Collision Involves Downey PD Officer, 2 Injured

Downey, Los Angeles County, CA: A Downey Police Department officer was injured, along with the occupant of the other vehicle, in a head-on traffic collision early Monday morning.

Downey PD officers responded to a call regarding an officer-involved traffic collision on Lakewood Boulevard and Columbia Way in the city of Downey around 1:45 a.m., Mar. 13.

Downey PD officers arrived at the scene and reported a two-vehicle collision with one party still inside a vehicle and the officer involved was transported by ambulance to a local hospital in unknown condition.

Downey firefighters started medical aid to the other victim still inside the vehicle.

Firefighters quickly freed the patient who sustained a leg injury and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.

The cause of crash is still under investigation.
