High Winds Topple Big Rigs; Northbound 14 Freeway Closes in Mojave

Mojave, Kern County, CA: High winds toppled multiple big rigs Tuesday, Feb. 14, prompting Caltrans District 9 to close northbound State Route 14 around 2:00 p.m. from the southern junction of SR 14 and Business Route 58 in Mojave to the junction of State Route 14 and State Route 58.

Northbound traffic is being detoured onto Business Route 58 (Mojave-Barstow Highway) toward Exit 172 where it will connect with State Route 58.

Visibility also appeared to be an issue in the area with winds kicking up dust and debris.

Emergency vehicles were observed on the side of the roadway for what appeared to be a traffic collision but it was unclear if there were any injuries.
