Power company crews and fire department officials were busy throughout the night as high winds wreaked havoc on utility lines.

Key News Network video from the area shows a huge green flash light up the sky caused by shorted-out power lines or exploding transformers seen from the westbound 91 Freeway.

The second location seen in KNN video is the intersection of Lomita Boulevard and South Western Avenue in Harbor City as it went from pitch black to brightly lit.

In the city of Torrance, a basketball hoop landed onto a car and trash cans were toppled by gusty winds in a pitch black neighborhood on the 23200 block of Carlow Avenue.

The Southland is bracing for possibly the coldest storm in years, according to the National Weather Service, with light snow predicted to cover areas as low as 1,000 feet.
