Around 11:45 p.m., Jan. 12, 2024, a pedestrian was crossing mid-block on San Fernando Road, south of Montague Street, when a light-colored pickup truck traveling northbound on southbound lanes struck the pedestrian, according to the Los Angeles Police Department’s news release of the incident.

The pedestrian fell to the ground on northbound lanes and attempted to get up when he was struck by a second vehicle also traveling northbound on San Fernando Road, reported the LAPD. The second vehicle is described as a light-colored full-size SUV.

The force of the second collision threw the pedestrian onto southbound lanes where he was run over by a third vehicle. That vehicle is described as a dark-colored mid-size SUV going southbound on San Fernando Road, according to the LAPD.

The LAPD stated that all three vehicles failed to stop, render aid and remain at the scene as required by law. The first and second vehicles involved in striking the pedestrian were last seen traveling northbound on San Fernando Road toward Osbourne Street. The third vehicle was last seen southbound on San Fernando toward Branford Street.

Responding Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics pronounced the pedestrian deceased at the scene who is described as possibly a Hispanic male, in his late 20’s or early 30’s, according to the LAPD. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

San Fernando Road was closed from Osborne to Branford Street during the investigation.
