BELLFLOWER, Calif., Oct. 21 (KNN) — A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run traffic collision on the 91 Freeway in Bellflower late Sunday night.
California Highway Patrol officers with the Santa Fe Springs Area Office and Los Angeles County firefighters responded to a traffic collision involving a pedestrian on the westbound 91 Freeway at Downey Avenue at approximately 11:14 p.m.
Once firefighters and CHP officers arrived on the scene, they located a female in the slow lanes of traffic who was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.
Firefighters and paramedics pronounced the female deceased at the scene. CHP closed the two far right lanes, along with the on-ramp at Lakewood Avenue to the westbound 91 Freeway.
Initial information from the CHP indicated that the person who reported the incident stated he was assisting in changing her tire when she stepped into lanes and was hit.
The CHP is searching for the driver.
