SOUTH LOS ANGELES, Jan. 28 (KNN) — A man was found shot to death Monday evening in the Central-Alameda neighborhood of South Los Angeles, prompting a Los Angeles Police Department homicide investigation.
LAPD’s Newton Division units responded to reports of a shooting shortly after 6:30 p.m. in the 5700 block of South Fortuna Street.
When officers arrived on the scene, they located a victim down between two RVs at the location. According to a spokesperson for the LAPD, the victim was a 49-year-old male Hispanic who suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics pronounced the man deceased at the scene.
The LAPD spokesperson told KNN that a male on a skateboard rolled up to the victim and fired shots.
A male in handcuffs was observed at the scene sitting in the backseat of an LAPD patrol vehicle; however, no suspect has been arrested at this time, according to the spokesperson.
The LAPD’s Central Bureau Homicide is investigating the incident. It is not currently known if the fatal shooting is gang-related.
