NORTH HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES, Aug. 6 (KNN) — A man was found fatally shot after officers responded to a shooting in North Hollywood late Monday evening.
Los Angeles Police Department officers with North Hollywood Division responded to an assault with a deadly weapon shooting call at 9:26 p.m. in the 5600 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard, according to Officer Drake Madison, spokesperson for the LAPD.
Arriving officers located a male shooting victim in his 40s. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department personnel, Madison told KNN.
An armed suspect was still inside the building, according to officers initially at the scene. Residents were evacuated from the apartment complex as a precaution. It was unclear when the occupants were allowed back inside.
Additional information from the LAPD came to light in a news release Tuesday afternoon stating the victim was located inside an apartment suffering from a gunshot wound.
The LAPD also revealed in the news release that a shot was fired from a firearm in an adjacent apartment, which penetrated the neighboring wall, striking the victim, according to the preliminary investigation by Valley Bureau Homicide detectives.
