CASTAIC, Calif., Jan. 22 (KNN) — The Hughes Fire, which ignited Monday in the Castaic area, has prompted the evacuation of Northlake Hills Elementary School, located at 32545 Ridge Route Road. The fire, fueled by dry conditions and strong winds, has quickly grown, forcing immediate action to protect students and staff.

Los Angeles County Fire Department crews are battling the blaze, with additional resources deployed to contain its spread. Authorities have established evacuation zones near the school and are coordinating efforts to safely relocate students and staff to a secure location. Parents are being advised to monitor updates for reunification details.

The Hughes Fire, first reported earlier in the day, continues to spread, threatening nearby structures and prompting additional evacuation warnings. Residents in the area are urged to remain alert, follow evacuation orders, and avoid the affected zones. Current acres reported at 3,400.
