LAPD Officer Involved in Shooting During Traffic Stop in Canoga Park

CANOGA PARK, LOS ANGELES, Oct. 7 (KNN) — A Los Angeles Police Department officer was involved in a shooting during a traffic stop in Canoga Park shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday.

An LAPD Topanga Division patrol unit was on a traffic stop of a pickup truck in the parking lot of a CVS Pharmacy located in the 21000 block of Sherman Way, when an officer observed a gun in the driver’s lap.

An officer-involved shooting occurred at some point during the traffic stop, but how it transpired is unclear at this time.

The suspect, seen down on the ground near the pickup truck, was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Los Angeles Fire Department.

No officers were injured.
