DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES, Feb. 9 (KNN) — A deployment of Los Angeles Police Department officers was observed around the perimeter of the Oceanwide Plaza development late Thursday night and early Friday morning due to recent widespread vandalism to the structures at the halted construction site.
While there were no initial reports of vandalism at the time of this report, the LAPD does patrol the area due to the recent tagging that covers buildings at the development in Downtown Los Angeles.
The unfinished development takes up the entire city block of Figueroa, 11th, 12th and Flower streets with the Figueroa side in full view from the Crypto.com Arena.
According to ABC7 News, the Los Angeles City Council is demanding that the owner clean up the the graffiti-covered high-rises or the city will do it and give them the bill. They also want the owner to secure the buildings from additional vandalism.
The owner of the Oceanwide Plaza residential and retail complex halted construction back in 2019 due to financing issues, according to multiple sources.
