LAPD Pursuit of Stolen Mercedes Rental Ends in El Monte, Suspect in Custody

EL MONTE, Calif., Jan. 6 (KNN) — Authorities arrested a suspect who led police on a chase that threatened pedestrians during the vehicle pursuit in downtown Los Angeles before it terminated in the city of El Monte.

Los Angeles Police Department officers were in pursuit of a stolen Mercedes SUV rental in the downtown area of Los Angeles early Monday morning. The suspect led officers through the streets, where the vehicle almost struck pedestrians near the Crypto.com Arena.

The suspect continued to lead officers on a chase that took them onto multiple freeways and into various cities, ending in El Monte.

LAPD officers “PIT” maneuvered the vehicle, broke out the driver’s side window, and took the suspect into custody.
