LAPD, SWAT Respond to Armed Suspect Barricaded in Residence

ARLETA, LOS ANGELES, June 21 (KNN) – Around 3 a.m. Wednesday, Los Angeles Police officers gathered at Mercer Street and Arleta Avenue to serve a warrant for an individual that was reported to be armed with guns and possibly previously fired the guns in his residence.

LAPD Mission Division and Metro SWAT were on scene preparing to make forcible entry into a residence where, LAPD confirmed, a male Hispanic in his 40s was barricaded.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded and remained on medical standby at the scene.

When officers gained entry to the residence, they located the suspect deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Public Information Officer Tony Im with LAPD Media Relations.
