Stevenson Ranch, Los Angeles, CA: A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputy was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol after a solo-vehicle traffic collision on Pico Canyon Road / Southern Oaks Drive in Stevenson Ranch on Friday, Aug. 26, LASD confirmed on Twitter.

The deputy’s vehicle was located after a 911 caller found a marked LASD SEB (Special Enforcement Bureau) SUV abandoned in bushes on the side of the road. Shortly before 9:30 p.m., arriving deputies from the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station confirmed the sheriff’s department SUV had crashed but could not locate any deputies.
A containment was launched and the area was locked down as units combed a wooded area in search of their missing deputy. California Highway Patrol Newhall Station units also responded to the scene.
The deputy was located at a nearby home about a mile from the crash scene.
LASD said the deputy was later transported to Henry Mayo Hospital for evaluation, and it was determined he did not sustain any significant injuries from the solo-vehicle traffic accident.
The deputy has been relieved of duty, according to the department, and due to the active investigation, were unable to comment further.
