The shooting occurred in the area of the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station on the 700 block of East Avenue Q and Sierra Highway in the city of Palmdale.

Initial reports indicate the wounded deputy was transported to the medical center around 6 p.m. by responding deputies from Lancaster and Palmdale stations, where ER medical staff attempted to save the deputy’s life.

The city of Lancaster released a statement shortly after 11:00 p.m. reporting the death of the Palmdale deputy.

Sheriff Luna said in a press conference late Saturday night that a good Samaritan found the deputy and immediately called Palmdale station personnel.

Deputy Clinkunbroomer, 30, was a field training officer with the department, according to Luna. The deputy just got engaged four days ago.

Luna said the investigation is in the early stages. He did add, however, that Clinkunbroomer had just left the station but it was not known at this time if the deputy was on his way to a call when the shooting occurred.

Luna stated this was an ambush and murder of an LASD deputy and is seeking the public’s help in locating the suspect(s) responsible. He encouraged anyone with information regarding the fatal shooting of the deputy to call Los Angeles Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (8477), or LASD Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
