Los Angeles Demonstrators Protest Fatal Beating of Tyre Nichols Upon Release of Memphis Police Body Cam

Downtown Los Angeles, CA: Demonstrators took to the streets of Downtown Los Angeles Friday evening, Jan. 27, to protest the brutal beating of Tyre Nichols, a 29-year-old Black man, by Memphis Police Department officers that ultimately led to his death.

Protests erupted around the country upon the release of the Memphis Police officers’ body cam footage from the traffic stop of Nichols that depicted graphic images of the beating inflicted by multiple officers at the scene while Tyre was on the ground reportedly very near his home.

The five former officers have been charged with second-degree murder in the arrest and death of Tyre Nichols, according to multiple news sources.

In Downtown Los Angeles, demonstrators started out peacefully holding a rally and marching in the streets with signs and banners, then a clash erupted with police officers.
