Male Found Fatally Shot in Westlake District

WESTLAKE, LOS ANGELES, July 2 (KNN) — A male was found fatally shot Sunday night at the northwest corner of 8th Street and Park View Street in the Westlake neighborhood within Central Los Angeles.

Los Angeles police officers from Rampart Division responded to the location for a call regarding a shooting victim at approximately 9:40 p.m. The male was found by arriving officers and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics.

According to information from LAPD Officer Cervantes, the 25-year-old Hispanic male victim was standing at the location when he was approached by two male Hispanic suspects on scooters. After a brief verbal exchange, one of the suspects produced a handgun and shot the victim in the chest. Both suspects fled on scooters in an unknown direction.

The incident is gang related, according to LAPD.
