Man Fatally Wounded in Boyle Heights Shooting

BOYLE HEIGHTS, LOS ANGELES, Feb. 12 (KNN) — A man was fatally shot in a gang-related shooting late Tuesday night in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles, according to authorities.

Los Angeles Police Department’s Hollenbeck Division units responded to the 200 block of North Matthews Street after reports were received at 10:30 p.m. regarding a shooting victim.

Upon arrival, officers found a man down, not conscious and not breathing. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics arrived at the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

The victim was a 37-year-old Hispanic male, a spokesperson for the LAPD told Key News Network.

According to the LAPD, the victim was standing outside the location when he was approached by four to five males who fired multiple rounds, striking the victim and then fleeing the scene.

It was unclear why police were detaining a person at the scene.

There is no additional information at this time.
