Man Found Deceased After Firefighters Extinguish Commercial Structure Blaze

BROADWAY-MANCHESTER, LOS ANGELES, June 21 (KNN) – A man was discovered deceased by firefighters after a commercial building fire was extinguished early Wednesday morning.

The Los Angeles Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 12:17 a.m. on the 11300 block of South Main Street in the Broadway-Manchester neighborhood within South Los Angeles.

Arriving firefighters found a one-story, 60′ x 80′ metal clad, commercial building with two vehicles in a carport to the rear, well involved in flames, reported LAFD.

LAFD reported the flames were extinguished in 38 minutes with 83 firefighters on scene.

While conducting the primary search, firefighters located an adult male inside the building who was sadly beyond medical help, stated LAFD.

Firefighter/paramedics determined the man deceased at the scene.

The Los Angeles Police Department and LAFD Arson Section responded for the investigation per protocol for a fatality, according to LAFD.

The Los Angeles County Coroner will determine the identity and cause of death.

According to the LAFD, the building appeared to be filled with mattresses but it is unclear exactly what type of business was in operation. No further details are available at this time.
