Man Found Fatally Shot in Vehicle; Homicide Investigation Underway in Ventura

VENTURA, Calif., June 23 (KNN) — The Ventura Police Department is investigating the death of a man who was found shot inside a vehicle in the city of Ventura Saturday night.

Ventura police officers responded to the 100 block of West Simpson Street at approximately 10:48 p.m. for reports of a shooting victim.

A woman reported to 911 that she found her husband sitting inside his vehicle in their driveway with an unknown number of gunshot wounds.

Arriving officers along with the Ventura Fire Department and AMR paramedics, provided immediate medical attention at the scene before the victim was transported to a local hospital, reported the Ventura PD.

The victim was reported to be in full traumatic cardiac arrest upon transport and later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

According to the Ventura PD, Major Crime detectives responded to the incident and took over the investigation.

Preliminary information from the investigation revealed that the suspect approached the victim who was in the passenger seat of a vehicle and shot the victim. The suspect then fled the scene on foot.

“All information indicates this is an isolated incident and there is no immediate threat to the public,” said the Ventura PD in a news release of the incident.
