GRANADA HILLS, LOS ANGELES, July 19 (KNN) — Shots were fired at the Granada Hills Recreation Center late Wednesday night leaving a 16-year-old male dead and a toddler injured.
The Los Angeles Police Department’s Devonshire Division units responded to reports of a shooting around 11:12 p.m. in the 10600 block of Petit Avenue in Granada Hills.
When officers arrived on scene, they located a victim down, not conscious and not breathing.
According to the LAPD news release of the incident, a male victim was located on the paved walkway inside the park near the playground. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
“Further investigation revealed the victim had suffered gunshot wounds to his upper body.
His name is being withheld pending next of kin notifications,” the news release stated.
“An additional victim, identified as 2-year-old child, was observed laying on the ground near the
playground. The child suffered a gunshot wound to the torso,” reported the LAPD.
The child was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
There is no suspect information and no arrests have been made.
The Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Bureau Homicide detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing any information that would lead to the arrest of the suspect(s) involved in the murder of a 16-year-old male.
