ADAMS-NORMADIE, LOS ANGELES, July 4 (KNN) — A young man lost parts of his right hand in a fireworks incident Tuesday night.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to reports of an amputation shortly before 11:30 p.m. on the 2600 block of South Catalina Street in the Adams-Normandie area of Los Angeles.
Firefighters arrived to find a young man with a towel covering what remained of his right hand. According to neighbors, they were lighting fireworks in the intersection when the victim lost his hand.
The injured man was transported to a nearby hospital by LAFD paramedics.
Mortar tubes were observed in the street.
