DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES, Apr. 26 (KNN) — A man was fatally shot in broad daylight on a busy Los Angeles sidewalk in Downtown Los Angeles Thursday afternoon.
At approximately 3:45 p.m., Los Angeles Police Department’s Central Division broadcasted shots fired on 6th and Main streets.
Arriving officers located one victim with a gunshot wound to the head. Officers requested an ambulance for the shooting victim and performed lifesaving measures on the victim until paramedics arrived.
Los Angeles Fire Department personnel declared the victim deceased at the scene. Officer Cervantes, spokesperson for the LAPD, said the victim was a man in his mid 30s.
The shooting suspect, described as a male Hispanic in his 30s dressed in dark clothing, fled east on 6th Street. The LAPD was able to immediately pursue the suspect and took him into custody a few blocks away.
A massive crime scene was established on 6th Street between Main Street and Maple. The incident is not gang related, according to the LAPD.
