Citizens flagged down or somehow alerted officers in the area, of a confrontation between a man with a knife and an unknown victim.

Officers encountered the man with a knife, and somewhere along the line, an officer-involved shooting occurred, said Bruce Borihanh, Public Information Officer with the LAPD.

Borihanh said the suspect was struck by gunfire, transported to a local hospital and was listed in stable condition.

Per witnesses off camera, officers fired multiple rounds at the suspect.

Borihanh said the incident is in the preliminary stages of the investigation. Once the department has officer statements, reviews body worn camera video, obtains area surveillance video and interviews witnesses, they will then know exactly what happened.

Borihanh is encouraging anyone who has witnessed the incident to contact the LAPD at the website lapdonline.org where information can be submitted anonymously.
