Ontario, San Bernardino County, CA: The Ontario Police Department along with Ontario Fire Department received multiple 911 calls of shots fired at a youth football game at Colony High School on the 3800 block of East Riverside Drive in the city of Ontario on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022.

Per witnesses on scene, an estimated crowd of about 100 people were at the football game. Multiple shell casings were seen in the parking lot of the high school.
Officer Sequoia Payton with the Ontario Police Department spoke to media at the scene and said at approximately 10:46 a.m. police received calls of shots fired at Colony High School. Officers responded to the call for service and located a male victim that was down suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The adult male was transported to a local hospital in serious condition.
The number of suspects are unknown at this time, and the incident is currently under investigation, said Payton. The motive is also unknown at this time. What is known is that the victim was attending the sports event but it is not known what the relation was to the situation.
Payton said there is a possibility the suspect was targeted. Police are investigating whether the gunman was on foot or in a vehicle and how the suspect approached the victim. There are some witnesses and they are cooperating.
Dr. Felicia English, a parent of two students at the school, spoke on-camera about how she lives close by and had just left the gym where there was a big crowd and a lot of activity for the football game in the field and in the parking lot. She said she passed through and made it to her house when she heard the gunshots. “It just didn’t sound real,”English said. It made her question “what did I even hear?”
She said she heard several gunshots, and had heard from others that it was eight.
English is very pleased with the school and said the principal was on the scene within minutes. She feels sad that this happened because it’s a really safe community. English always felt the kids were safe and feels the incident came from way outside the community.
