Multiple Injury Rollover Crash Ends CHP Pursuit of Armed Carjacking Suspect

SUN VALLEY, LOS ANGELES, Sept. 22 (KNN) — Multiple suspects were injured in a rollover crash ending the pursuit of an alleged armed carjacking suspect in the Sun Valley neighborhood within the San Fernando Valley early Friday morning.

Azusa police officers were in pursuit of an armed carjacking suspect around 12:40 a.m., driving a Toyota pickup truck traveling eastbound on the 210 Freeway at Azusa Avenue.

California Highway patrol picked up the pursuit near the 210 Freeway and the 57 Freeway in the city of San Dimas and stayed with the pursuit.

The suspect turned around and traveled westbound on the 210 Freeway through multiple freeways and ended up in Sun Valley.

CHP “PIT” maneuvered the truck at Sherman Way, just east of Vineland Avenue. The vehicle overturned on its side on the sidewalk of Sherman Way.

There were a total of five suspects inside the vehicle and all were taken into custody by CHP officers at the scene.

All five suspects were transported to a local hospital – one with a broken leg and others for minor injuries.

Los Angeles Police Department officers took custody of one of the suspects wearing a Cowboys sweater who was allegedly the one armed during the carjacking.
