Multiple Suspects Sought in Fatal Assault of Nightclub Security Guard

HOLLYWOOD, July 31 (KNN) — The Los Angeles Police Department’s Operations West Bureau Homicide detectives are seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspects responsible for the brutal, fatal assault of a security guard in front a Hollywood nightclub early Sunday morning, July 30, 2023.

LAPD Hollywood units responded to an initial report of an assault with a deadly weapon around 2 a.m. with a victim down in front of the Dragonfly nightclub on the 6500 block of Santa Monica Boulevard.

The victim was located down on the street, not conscious and not breathing. The patient was immediately transported to a local hospital by responding Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics with CPR in progress. The victim succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, reported the LAPD.

At the time of the incident, an LAPD sergeant at the scene stated off camera to KNN that the incident did not involve a shooting.

The LAPD said in a news release of the incident that the 32-year-old male victim was working as a security guard at the nightclub when, for unknown reasons, a group of seven to eleven male Blacks in their 20s confronted the victim.

When the victim lost his footing and fell, the suspects advanced and began kicking and stomping the victim, according to the LAPD. The suspects fled on foot westbound on Santa Monica Boulevard to southbound Hudson Avenue.

The victim’s identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin and identification by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
