Shooting Outside Smoke Shop Leaves 2 Dead, 1 Hospitalized

VALLEY GLEN, LOS ANGELES, June 19 ( KNN) – Gunfire erupted outside a smoke shop just after 10 p.m. Monday night that left a total of three victims shot; one fatally at the scene, one pronounced deceased at the hospital and one in critical condition, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

LAPD officers responded to the intersection of Victory Boulevard and Coldwater Canyon Avenue in Valley Glen for a reported shooting and found a total of three gunshot victims upon arrival.

Two victims were transported to a local hospital by the Los Angeles City Fire Department with paramedics performing chest compressions on one of the transported victims. One victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A large police presence was immediately present in the area as the investigation was underway shortly after the shooting occurred.

Captain Brian O’Connor with the LAPD’s Van Nuys Patrol Division interviewed on camera at the scene for an update on the shooting, said a dispute erupted between three males at the smoke shop located at the southeast corner of the location. During the dispute, at least two of the males produced firearms and gunshots were exchanged. One male was deceased at the location across the street and a male was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The second male transported to a hospital underwent surgery.

O’Connor said there were no additional details at this time, but the department believes there are no additional suspects outstanding and no public threat at this time.

The male found deceased at the scene is believed to be in his 50s – 60s, and there is no additional information on the other two victims, O’Connor added.
