North Hollywood Apartment Fire Leaves Dog Dead, 2 Transported to Hospital Including Firefighter

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES, Aug. 8 (KNN) – One dog was found deceased and two patients, including a firefighter, were transported to a local hospital following a fire within a two-story apartment building late Wednesday night.

Los Angeles Fire Department crews responded to the 6100 block of North Cahuenga Boulevard in North Hollywood for a fire in an apartment unit shortly after 11:30 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy fire showing in a two-story, garden-style apartment building.

The LAFD extinguished flames on both the first and second floors of the building in 22 minutes with 48 firefighters at the scene.

In an update by LAFD spokesperson Margaret Stewart, one 80 lb. dog was found deceased inside the fire unit. A 35-year-old female patient was assessed on scene and declined LAFD transport, and one 28-year-old male patient was transported to a local hospital with burn injury, which was not life-threatening. Additionally, one firefighter was transported with isolated, non-life-threatening burn injury.
