Occupied Vehicle Set Ablaze; Burned Man Dies at Hospital

GREEN MEADOWS, LOS ANGELES, Aug. 6 (KNN) – A man died Sunday from serious burn wounds after the vehicle he occupied was set on fire in the Green Meadows neighborhood within South Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Police Department’s Southeast Division units responded to a call around 1:39 a.m. of an arson in progress involving an occupied vehicle on the 400 block of East 102nd Street.

When officers arrived on scene, they located the vehicle fully engulfed in flames along with the male occupant with burns all over his body.

The fire was extinguished by Los Angeles Fire Department personnel within just a few minutes, however, the occupant of the vehicle was rushed to a local hospital where he was listed in grave condition with third-degree burns, according to the LAPD.

The man was reportedly homeless and later died at the hospital.

There is no suspect information at this time.
