Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Suspected DUI Driver in Chinatown; Second Vehicle Involved Flees

CHINATOWN, LOS ANGELES, Feb. 14 (KNN) — A pedestrian involved in a collision with a suspected DUI driver was found deceased in a Chinatown intersection early Wednesday morning.

A traffic collision involving a pedestrian was reported just before 2:30 a.m. at the intersection of North Broadway and Ord Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

When LAPD’s Central Division patrol units arrived at the location, they found a victim down on the roadway. Responding Los Angeles Fire Department personnel pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

The LAPD identified the victim as a man between 50 and 60 years old.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the collision was taken into custody at the scene for suspected DUI, according to Officer Lopez, spokesperson for the LAPD.

Lopez said there was another vehicle involved that had also struck the pedestrian, but fled the scene. That vehicle is still outstanding.
