Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Vehicle on 101 Freeway

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES, July 11 (KNN) — A pedestrian was struck and killed on the 101 Freeway early Tuesday morning.

California Highway Patrol Central Los Angeles units responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian collision shortly before 5 a.m. on the southbound 101 Freeway under Los Angeles Street.

When units arrived on scene, they located a pedestrian down in the number one lane. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics.

A vehicle was observed parked off to the side of the freeway at the scene and appeared to be the vehicle involved in striking the pedestrian. A firefighter was seen pulling what appeared to be fabric from the front windshield of the vehicle. A pair of shoes were observed at the scene as well, a few lanes away from where the body was discovered.

A Sig Alert was issued for approximately three hours.
