Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Hit-and-Run Traffic Collision

Stanton, Orange County, CA: A person was struck and killed by a driver who fled the scene late Wednesday night prompting a closure of a major intersection.

Orange County Sheriff’s deputies and Anaheim firefighters assisting OCFA, responded to Cerritos Avenue and Dale Street in the city of Stanton shortly before 10:30 p.m., May 24, regarding a vehicle versus pedestrian accident.

Units arrived on scene and located the pedestrian down on the southwest corner of the intersection within a crosswalk suffering major injuries and unresponsive.

The pedestrian was declared deceased at the scene and deputies immediately closed the entire intersection to all traffic. The description of the suspect vehicle is unclear at this time.

OCSD units remained on scene attempting to locate further evidence.
