Pedestrian Fatally Struck on 5 Freeway in Sun Valley

SUN VALLEY, LOS ANGELES, Sept. 2 (KNN) — A pedestrian was struck and killed on the 5 Freeway in Sun Valley late Sunday night.

California Highway Patrol officers with the Altadena Area office responded to a call regarding a person struck on the 5 Freeway near the Sunland Boulevard off-ramp shortly before 11 p.m.

According to the CHP, a Sig Alert was issued for an unknown time. At the time of the incident, the number two, three, and four lanes were closed.

The HOV lane and number one lane were open at the time of the incident, with traffic observed merging into those lanes.

The cause of the fatal incident is currently unknown.
