Pedestrian Injured in Traffic Collision Involving Suspected DUI Driver in Los Angeles

BROADWAY-MANCHESTER, LOS ANGELES, Jan. 22 (KNN) – A pedestrian was struck and injured in a traffic collision involving a driver suspected of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol around 2:27 a.m. Wednesday.

The Los Angeles Police Department’s Southeast Division units responded to reports of an auto versus pedestrian collision at the intersection of South Broadway and Century Boulevard in the Broadway-Manchester neighborhood of Los Angeles.

When officers arrived at the scene, they located a pedestrian down in the roadway who was struck by a black pickup truck.

The pedestrian was transported to the hospital in unknown condition by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics and may be deceased per initial reports. However, KNN contacted the LAPD regarding the pedestrian’s condition around mid-morning. The LAPD receives notification if a victim dies as a result of an injury sustained in a reported incident, and there was no update in that regard to the pedestrian at that time.

The driver of the pickup truck was subjected to field sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested for felony DUI, according to the LAPD.

LAPD’s South Traffic Division is investigating the incident.
