Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Collision in Long Beach

LONG BEACH, CA, July 12 (KNN) — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a truck driver who fled the scene early Wednesday morning.

The Long Beach Police Department received a 911 call at approximately 1:50 a.m. regarding an unknown trouble call with a crashing sound on Locust Avenue and Seaside Way in Downtown Long Beach.

Additional information indicated that a black pickup truck crashed into a gate and possibly struck a pedestrian. The black pickup truck then fled northbound from the scene.

Police and fire department paramedics arrived to find one pedestrian with severe trauma, deceased in the roadway.

Information gathered from authorities indicate there was a confirmed hit-and-run incident involved in the death of the pedestrian.

Officers cordoned off the area with multiple layers of tape and waited for traffic investigators to arrive.
