VERMONT SQUARE, LOS ANGELES, Oct. 23 (KNN) — A person was struck and injured in a hit-and-run collision by a vehicle involved in a street takeover early Monday morning in the Vermont Square neighborhood within Los Angeles.
Police were notified shortly after 3 a.m. of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle during a street takeover at the intersection of Western Avenue and 54th Street.
The Los Angeles Police Department’s 77th Division patrol units and South Traffic Division units responded to the location and arrived on scene after all vehicles involved in the takeover had fled the area, leaving only the pedestrian and reportedly a witness.
Responding Los Angeles Fire Department firefighter/paramedics transported the victim in unknown condition to a local hospital.
Officer Drake Madison with LAPD Media Relations told Key News Network the incident is considered a felony hit-and-run.
Madison was unable to give an update on the condition of the victim. He stated there were no further details regarding the incident at this time.
It currently remains unknown if the victim was struck while on a sidewalk or in the roadway during the street takeover.
LAPD’s South Traffic Division is investigating the incident.
