MONTEBELLO, Calif., Sept. 18 (KNN) — A pedestrian was ultimately struck and killed on the 60 Freeway in Montebello late Tuesday night.
The California Highway Patrol from the East Los Angeles Area office and Montebello Fire Department responded to a traffic collision at 10:39 p.m. involving a pedestrian eastbound on the 60 Freeway at Garfield Avenue.
Once CHP officers arrived at the scene, they immediately rendered CPR to the victim. Firefighters and paramedics arrived and took over CPR, but the victim was ultimately pronounced deceased at the scene.
It is unknown at this time how many vehicles struck the pedestrian on the freeway. It is also unknown how the pedestrian got on the freeway or was involved in a crash before being struck.
CHP only had the slow lane open for traffic. A Sig Alert was issued for the eastbound 60 Freeway for an unknown duration.
