Police Unit Attempts PIT Maneuver on Suspect Vehicle During Pursuit

Vermont Square, Los Angeles, CA: A pursuit suspect was placed in custody in the Vermont Square neighborhood after a short chase Wednesday morning, Feb. 15. A police unit attempted PIT maneuver during the pursuit to slow the vehicle.

The pursuit began at approximately 2:45 a.m. at the intersection of West Vermont and West Vernon Avenue.

The suspect traveled on Los Angeles freeways including the 110 and side streets in that area.

Los Angeles Police Department officers from Southwest Division were involved in the pursuit. At one point, a police unit was caught on video by Key News Network attempting a PIT maneuver on the suspect vehicle.

Officers went into tracking mode during the pursuit with an airship overhead. LAPD briefly lost the suspect in the area of 94th Street and Halldale Avenue.

The suspect was then located at West 95th Street and South Normandy at approximately 3:05 a.m. ending the pursuit.
