Pomona Police Shoot Armed Suspect at Scene of Traffic Collision

POMONA, Calif., June 10 (KNN) — A police shooting of a suspect in possession of a gun in the city of Pomona Sunday evening is currently under investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The incident occurred shortly after 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of North White Street and West Holt Avenue, specifically the 600 block of West Holt Avenue, according to the Pomona Police Department.

The shooting involving the Pomona PD took place at the scene of a two-vehicle traffic collision in the intersection. It is not clear if the Pomona PD was involved with the suspect before the crash and shooting. The suspect appeared to be in a white pickup truck.

Preliminary reports indicate the suspect pointed a firearm at officers and an officer-involved shooting occurred, according to a statement by the Pomona PD.

The suspect was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition, reported the Pomona PD. No officers were injured during the incident.

There is no information at his time regarding the occupant(s) of the other vehicle involved in the collision.

Pomona PD also stated that a firearm was recovered at the scene.

There is no additional information at this time.
