Power Outage Plunges Echo Park into Darkness

Echo Park, Los Angeles, CA: A large power outage plunged the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles into darkness early Monday morning.

It was not known what time the outage was reported, however, footage was captured of the dark streets and buildings by Key News Network around 1:40 a.m., Jan. 8.

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power crews were working to restore power on Alvarado Street, north of the 101 Freeway.

The total number of customers without power was not immediately known.

Multiple street lights in the area were also affected due to the outage. Drivers not yielding for the darkened traffic lights were causing a hazard in the area for other drivers.

The expected time power would be restored was unknown at the time of this report.
