Joplin, MO: One Joplin Police officer has died, two officers are hospitalized and one suspect is dead after a shooting early Tuesday afternoon in Joplin, MO.

Joplin Police Department officers were involved in a shooting with a subject around 1:20 p.m., according to News Station KOAM. All three wounded officers were transported to area hospitals, according to local media reports. One officer has died, one is reported in critical condition and the other is in serious but stable condition, KOAM reported.

A public prayer vigil was held in Cunningham Park on Tuesday night that included members of law enforcement.

The officer-involved shootings are under investigation and authorities are planning a press conference Wednesday morning with more details of what occurred.
